New (IDX enabled) Real Estate WordPress Theme

A new real estate wordpress theme from Woothemes has been released called Estate and all I can say is that I am quite impressed.  Not only does it look very professional and clean but it has some cool advanced features that should make real estate agents very happy.  And I’m talking about the integrated IDX feature which allows you to include searchable and indexable property pages on your site.  The indexable content is very important for SEO and I think if you’re an agent and you’re not using something like this that you’re at a disadvantage  to those that do.  If you care about SEO then it’s quite important to have lots of content on your site.  Basically having IDX listings that are found by search engines and are able to be indexed means you expand your site’s size.  It now has a better chance at being found for the keywords that are included in your listings.  Think “bigger net”. Screen Shot of Estate Estate is not your ordinary real estate theme. It is more advanced, yet simple to manage real estate theme built specifically for real estate agencies. Built on the WooFramework it boasts advanced SEO controls, clean code and advanced styling features. Making use of WordPress 3.0′s custom post types and taxonomies the theme unleashes a new “Properties” management facility when installed – proving it’s far more than just a WordPress real estate theme, it’s a web solution. With flexible page templates, an advanced search facility that allows you to drill down into properties based on very specific criteria, Google Maps integration and smart property images management you’ll find huge value in the modest price tag. NEW: Now with IDX functionality thanks to [...]

WordPress Real Estate Themes

Looking for a professional real estate WordPress theme?  Of course you are!  I originally wrote this post in 2009, but since then a lot of the theme listed on this page had disappeared… so I’ve updated it with the one theme that has still been going strong.  All of the essential features of the OpenHouse theme have been included in the Open Door theme.  The Open Door theme is a fully responsive real estate theme. Pretty much all of the best features of Openhouse/Automotiv have been ported over to OpenDoor. But there are some notable differences. The following are features OpenDoor has that OpenHouse/Automotiv doesn’t. OpenDoor is Responsive. (view on a mobile device to see it change layout) Has more layout and appearance options. (independent control over header, footer, background colors/images), change header height, etc. Has more homepage widget areas, and option for latest blog posts Allows you to easily add your own image-less banner types in Theme Options. Even define a color tip for each banner type. Has option to choose between row or grid layout for search results, browse by results, and latest listings. (the one setting applies to all 3 places) Has more search parameters. And each search parameter can be included or excluded in Theme Options. ‘Browse by’ feature is now grouped along with the search, instead of in the menu bar Secondary small header menu bar at top right of header More advanced homepage slideshow. Slideshow expands to full width of site. Both real estate mode (standard and dsIDXpress version) and car dealer mode, are built into this single theme. No more separate versions for me to maintain. Mark a listing as ‘Sold’, and then have site filter out all [...]

Real Estate Keyword Research – Find Your Competitors

If you have a real estate website and want to find your online competitors all you have to do is research google and yahoo to find who is listed under the keywords or phrases that are related to your site. If you own a California real estate office you would start with major keywords such as California real estate, Southern California real estate, California Realty, California realtor etc. Then you could go more specific with city names such as LA real estate, Burbank real estate, Hollywood real estate, Beverly Hills realtor etc. How many real estate sites are competing for each keyword? When you conduct searches you want to keep track of how many websites show up under each keyword by noting the info in an excel spreadsheet. You could also write it down on paper too if you want. Examples shown below. Notice the difference in numbers between Google and Yahoo. The number of results are how many sites you will be competing with to get to the top position. In reality though you will only be competing with the top three sites listed because it is your goal to be in the top three. Once you’ve completed the first search start looking closer at each of the sites. You will first see site titles which usually contain the keyword you searched for. You will also notice the description under the title of the site. Make note of this as the title and description plays a role in why these sites are listed first. Ok, so you are now studying the #1 listing. To get a quick overview of what’s going on behind the scenes you will need the Google toolbar installed on your [...]
