Are you writing articles and submitting them to article directories in hopes they (your links) get picked up by webmasters and search engines? Have you paid for article submission services? Have you ever wanted to submit your articles to a bunch of article sites for free?

Check out Article Submitter, another piece of SEO/Marketing software from Brad Callen, the maker of SEO Elite.

Freely submit your articles to 85 of the top article sites. 85? Yes, 85… I didn’t even know 85 article sites existed… let alone 660 which is what you can upgrade to if you want.. not sure who would want to though. Even though the software makes it easier for you to submit to article directories it doesn’t do it automatically.

You still have to sign up for those 660 article directories and submit your site by hand. Article Submitter makes it a bit easier by autofilling a lot of your info on submission, but 660,, that’s a lot of article sites to submit to! Again something you might want to consider outsourcing. I think 85 article directories is enough to submit to but that’s just me. Of course 660 is more coverage and you might very well get links solely from the article directories themselves. Check it out if you are doing article marketing for SEO purposes.

Update Feb. 1st 2009 ** Please note this post is somewhat old. Things change fast on the net. As of Feb. 1st 2009 the best article repository or directory you can submit your articles to is http://www.ezinearticles.com – I’ve removed all other article directories from the list below because they really don’t matter that much.

Content is king when it comes to the internet. Fresh and relevant content is the key by which websites gain new audiences, keep existing ones and improve their page ranking in search engines. Practically everything revolves around content.

It is for this reason that web masters and business owners try their best to maximize the effect and benefit they can get from the content on their websites. One of the most effective ways of getting the most out of your content is to submit it to article directories.

An article directory is a large repository of information that has been collected over time by publishers who accept articles and then serve them. This is not free though in the sense that the submitter will not do anything. As payment for serving the article, the submitter is obligated to host a link to the article directory on his website.

These article directories are like a storage space for content. Writers of content can bring their articles to the directory and any person who is looking for a particular kind of content can go there and, depending on the rights given to people using content, gets it.

By putting your content in article directories there is bigger chance that your articles will be used by popular websites. This will surely improve your link popularity. This will also make you more visible to more people. As previously mentioned, since content is much sought after in the web, even website publishers would search for good quality content in these directories. As part of the stipulated agreement of most article directories, any website who publish content is required to include the author / content owner’s resource box. This can lead to more publicity and exposure for your website. But the best thing is that it does not cost a cent.

Below are some of the top article directories on the net. It is a good idea to submit to the top directories first so that you can maximize your exposure at the soonest possible time:

http://www.ezinearticles.com

Do not limit your submissions to just 10 or so directories. Remember that maximum exposure means submitting to the most number of directories that you possibly can. The general recommendation is to submit to at least one hundred article directories in order to fully gain the benefits of submitting to article directories.

When submitting your articles do not forget to make a good resource box for your content. A resource box is not necessarily a box, it contains a short paragraph placed at the end of the article. The purpose of the paragraph is to give a linking credit to the author. Other information that can be included are copyright notices and copyright credits.

When writing your introduction, try to include relevant information about the writer but make it concise and easy to read. Also, do not forget to put in the link to your website.
